Download the DMG file
Click the download button above to download DearPlay-0.9.3-Universal.dmg. -

Open the DMG file
Double-click the downloaded DMG file to mount it. -

Drag to Applications
Drag the DearPlay icon to the Applications folder shortcut. -

Launch
Open DearPlay from Launchpad or the Applications folder. It is Apple notarized, so it will launch immediately without any additional security prompts.

API Keys for AI Features
AI transcription and translation features require an API key from each respective service.
WhisperKit (Local β No API Key Required)
Performs speech recognition directly on your Mac without internet. A one-time model download is required on first use, after which it works completely offline. Your data never leaves your device.
Google Gemini
Used for transcription and translation. You can get a free API key from Google AI Studio.
OpenAI
Used for Whisper (transcription) and GPT-4o (translation). Get your API key from OpenAI Platform.
Anthropic Claude
Used for subtitle translation. Get your API key from Anthropic Console.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Gatekeeper warning appear?
No. DearPlay is signed with a Developer ID and Apple notarized. You can run it immediately after downloading.
Does it work on Intel Macs?
Yes. It is built as a Universal Binary, running natively on both Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4) and Intel (x86_64).
What happens when the beta period ends?
After the beta period (~June 30, 2026), an update to the official release will be provided. We plan to ship an improved version that reflects user feedback.
Are the AI features free?
WhisperKit (local transcription) is completely free. Cloud AI services (Gemini, OpenAI, Claude) may incur charges based on each service's usage pricing, using your own API key.
